This Brittany Coastal Path is a weekend walking in a
beautiful part of the Brittany Coastal path( that actually runs from Mont
St Michel to Lorient which in total is 150 miles!) Do not fear we have
selected a part of this coastal path to walk along. The section we will be
walking is from St Malo via Dinard to Lancieux on Saturday. On Sunday we
will walk from St Malo via Dinard to La Richardais or depending on weather
conditions from Pointe du Grouin to Cancale .
The walking is easy but you still need to be reasonable fit as the path
undulates in parts.
We are based in the famous walled town of St Malo, which
is an ideal location for access to first class restaurants and to fine
shopping. We allow a short time on Sunday for shopping, most shops in St
Malo are open on Sundays.
This is a great weekend ands everyone we have taken has
said what a great time they’ve had. On this weekend you combine walking with
eating and drinking quality French food and wine.
The weekend is completed by having a celebratory lunch on
the Sunday which is a good way to end the weekend.
The weekend starts by people traveling from either Jersey, Guernsey or the
UK . People traveling from the Channel Islands with be escorted from the
island by one of us. Those coming from the UK will meet us in St Malo.
Traveling from UK
Depending on the time that
your Ferry arrives we will make arrangements to meet you at the ferry
terminal or the hotel. We will not forget you!
Day 1
– Friday travel and arrive in St Malo, then transfer to your hotel.
The hotel will be either La Louvre or the L’Univers both these hotels are
within the old walls.
Depending on your arrival time we will arrange to meet you to discuss the
weekends walking. In the evening we will meet and go to the local restaurant
for a delightful 3 course meal. There is plenty of choice. This gives you
the opportunity to meet the group and make new friends.
Apres, the meal we will retire to the hotel.
Day2
Saturday- we will have an early breakfast and be ready to leave the hotel by
nine and walk to the vedette (boat) to catch over to Dinard. This will be a
ten minute boat ride to the seafront quay at Dinard. Here the walk will
start at the south end of the seafront at La Plage de L’Eluse . The route is
very flat to begin with and follows around the side of the town, this is a
lovely stretch of walking. After about an hour the path breaks up a little
and is a little more undulating. The walk to St Lunaire takes about 2 and a
half hours. On arrival we will go to the La Residence for a well earned
crepe and a cup of coffee.
From here we will then head along the Plage de Longchamps in the direction
of St Briac sur Mer a walk of approximately 2 hours. We go via the Pointe de
La Haye and then across the estuary bridge into the delightful small village
of St Briac. A short drinks break and we will continue onto the Pointe de
Lancieux where the walk will finish. We will then return to St Malo via bus
or Taxi.
You will then have a little time to relax and then we will meet and go to
one of the restaurant within the walls for a well earned evening meal and
glass of wine
Day3
Sunday We will depart at about 9.00 from the hotel after breakfast and then
depending on the weather condition either from Dinard after catching the
vedette to La Richardais, going down the La Rance estaury or go to Pointe du
Grouin and walk to Concale . Which ever walk we take both afford nice views.
This walk will last between 2 to 3 hours. If we go down the Rance we will
lunch back in St Malo.
After Lunch you will have a short time for shopping in St Malo town. Then
meet us to catch your ferry back to Jersey, Guernsey or the UK. We recommend
this walking weekend to anyone and in particular couples who likes walking
likes food and who likes a glass of French wine. Not a bad way to spend a
weekend and of course with our delightful company.
