Getting there is often a source of anxiety, so we tell you some
details here and comprehensive directions to the actual holiday when
you book. There's also nothing worse than finding out too late that
you could have travelled there cheaper! All our tours and walks
are land price only, therefore you can make your own travel arrangements
to get to Jersey with our help.
We can do an inclusive tour including flights, but you must let us
know at the outset which option you want.

Gear:
what to bring
Special interest breaks and holidays
With special interest breaks you can get away with less
equipment than is needed for walking and trekking breaks:
stout shoes, waterproof anorak, small ruck sack, fleece or
sweater to put on during a stop, thermos or water bottle,
camera & film
Walking and trekking breaks and holidays:
You may be well accustomed to the whims
of mountain weather at home, but in Jersey on occasions the
weather can be foul particularly in Autumn, therefore you need
to pack clothing for all eventualities! In order to help you
we have listed below the things needed for a walking holiday
in the Channel Islands.
Walking
boots leather or waterproof fabric, broken in and
comfortable, yet still with sufficient tread for grip. If
you’re buying a pair for this trip, then look at our links
page for a supplier. Purchase a pair well in advance of your
trip so they are well broken in. If you're coming on a
holiday with gentle walks, you can probably get away with
good "stout" shoes or walking shoes. Salomon or Karrimor
produce good walking shoes.
2 or
3 pairs of walking socks depending on how long you're coming for.
Waterproof anorak
and trousers these are a ‘must’ for all walks (remember to reproof
them!) .
Extra fleece or
sweater to put on during a stop or when on the north
coast of the islands where it is often windy.
Trousers loose enough not to restrict your movement, and
maybe shorts for hot weather! Do not bring Jeans as they are
very stiff and restrictive for walking; they also get heavy
if wet.
Something
thin 2/3 T-shirts
Gloves,
hat, neck-warmer
etc in spring and autumn.
Ruck sackto carry spare sweater, waterproofs, packed lunch, water
bottle and other bits and pieces.
Water flask if possible, or a small plastic water bottle.
Suntan lotion
can be needed in the islands even in spring
Sun hat
in summer if you use one.
First Aid
personal (Tour guide will have one)
Large
plastic bagto put inside your rucksack to keep the
contents completely dry. No rucksack is waterproof (too much
stitching!)
Non-essential, but preferably not forgotten
Walking pole which
is handy particularly on round the island walks. Slippers are
nice on feet in the evening after a good days walk, camera,
spare film, binoculars and snack bars.
